A source for information and stories about the Trans Canada Trail and what’s going on around the nation.

ON THE TCT

Since the idea for a recreational Trans Canada Trail first surfaced in 1992, and leading up to much of it’s official inauguration in 2017, countless groups and volunteers have continued to contribute to it’s growth and maintenance.

Largely volunteer driven today the trail now reaches over 28,000kms in Canada’s 10 provinces and 3 territories, and has sparked interest at home and abroad as what is recognized as the world’s largest multi-use recreational trail. The sheer size and scale of the TCT and the vast number of paths can make it a little difficult to grasp. For example, according to the Trans Canada Trail website it would take roughly 2.5 years to walk from one side of Canada to the other, using the country’s most easterly and westerly points as markers. With articles, maps, stories and links this website aims to add some additional context for understanding the incredible magintude of the TCT and interconnectivity within Canada..
